Why this principle for this gas

CO₂ is heavier than air and fills cellars from the floor up. Dual-beam IR is the correct principle at %vol levels; an electrochemical toxic cell cannot span 2 %. Mount 300 mm above the lowest floor in the carbonation room and keep the optical path off wet drains.

Installation and wiring

Wall-mount SPXCDASMB1 (carbon dioxide 2 %vol, 316 stainless steel) through the one-piece plate with M8 bolts sized for that mass. This SKU uses 2 × M20 entries: pipe kit SPXCDMTBR covers Ø1.5–3″, duct kit is SPXCDDMK, and glands must match—do not retap SPXCDASMB1. Land SPXCDASMB1 4–20 mA as three-wire and set Modbus address from the menu only. Magnetic wand calibration on the SPXCDASMB1 lid stays non-intrusive. SPXCDASMB1 2 %vol CO₂ hugs the cellar floor.

SPXCDASMB1: Should I order B1 or B2?
SPXCDASMB1 — B1 is 0–2.00 %vol for occupied carbonation rooms. B2 is 0–5.00 %vol for process-rich spaces. Do not mix them.
SPXCDASMB1: Why not an electrochemical CO₂ cell?
SPXCDASMB1 — Surecell™ toxic cells are ppm devices. Percent-level CO₂ is an IR measurement on XCD.
What weight penalty does 316SS add on SPXCDASMB1?
SPXCDASMB1 is ~6.8 lb versus ~4.4 lb for aluminium sibling SPXCDALMB1. The extra mass buys chloride resistance for this carbon dioxide 2 %vol point; keep M8 wall bolts at the stamped size.
Can I convert SPXCDASMB1 from ATEX M20 to NPT in the field?
No. SPXCDASMB1 flameproof entries are machined M20. North-American NPT is UL sibling SPXCDULNB1, not an adaptor on this ATEX carbon dioxide 2 %vol body.
Can I retrofit Modbus on SPXCDASMB1 after it ships?
Modbus RTU on SPXCDASMB1 is a transmitter sales option, not a jumper on the carbon dioxide 2 %vol lid. Confirm the option before the box leaves; 4–20 mA sink/source is already on this SKU.
